Overview
Our client is a leading London Market Insurance business based in the City of London. The successful candidate will enhance their expertise in Sitecore alongside obtaining expertise in numerous technologies that form our wider solution. This role offers the opportunity to build experience in a leading role, both from a technical and personnel aspect and deliver improvements to the ‘status quo`.
 
Some out of hours support will be required in support of deployments of high severity incidents, compensation will be provided accordingly
 
Job Purpose
Work as part of the Application Development and Support team to design, build and support our digital solutions primarily for the Sitecore Portal product within the client company. Operate as the portals Subject Matter Expert (SME) within the organisation working closely with the third-party providers in agreeing solutions and roadmaps to support the Business and IT strategies. The successful candidate will work alongside US colleagues on the company`s digital strategies. 
 
Major Performance Objectives:
Improve the company's technical landscape such as to make support and service delivery seamless - such an achievement will be a huge credit to the individual involved. A major objective will be to gain a clear picture of their AS-IS situation.
 
Key Responsibilities:

- Ownership of the application architecture, Design and Build approaches.
- Day to day management of Onshore/Offshore partners in delivery of solutions and BAU support.
- Build and maintain close working relationships with Business teams and other Product Owners in the delivery of all changes to the portals.
- Ownership of the technical relationship with the supplier.
- Accountable for, but not limited to; Performance, Capacity modelling/management, DR, Resiliency, Technical debt, maintainability and supportability of the portals.
- Responsible for solution integration upstream and downstream of the portals.
- Responsible for the technical currency and roadmap of the portals, working closely with architects and suppliers.
- The technical delivery of BAU support, delivering against Service Availability targets, of the portals.
- Minimal involvement in hands on development, does enough to retain skills.
- Participate in the Sitecore Centre of Excellence (CoE) internally, working closely with Houston colleagues.
- Participate in the formation and development of IT architectural standards across UK and US.
- Ensure all solutions comply with IT architectural standards.
- Adhere to corporate and IT standards and processes at all times.
- Formally manage vendors/suppliers, as required, to ensure that the service provided by them is aligned with the business requirements and is delivered at least to the terms of the contractual agreement and service levels.

Skills and Experience Specification:

Sitecore:

- Experience of designing and developing an externally facing Sitecore 8 Portal and xDB
- Experience with integrating Sitecore Portal applications with other applications (including across Firewalls)
- Experience assisting with release and deployment of Sitecore applications

Relationship management:

- Experience working with business users and interpreting their needs and concerns
- Experience overseeing onshore and offshore technical resources

Production Support:

- Experience working in a production support environment
- Experience of month-end and year-end activities

Other Technologies:

- Javascript

- Understanding of the web: protocols, architecture, infrastructure, Servers (IIS), proxies, load balancing, high availability, databases, etc.
