Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage, develop and coach actuarial staff; establish actuarial policies and procedures within Company guidelines; ensure that all activities are performed to established standards
  • Responsible for talent management and succession planning across the actuarial function
  • Direct responsibility and accountability for actuarial reporting, valuation, assumption setting and reserving
  • Responsible for the overall leadership of the function, on an organization-wide basis
  • Provide ongoing advice and counsel to other top executives and has a key role in developing and implementing the company’s operating policies and long-term strategies
  • Oversee and act as trusted advisor to executives on the drivers and levers related to in force profitability
  • Develop and champion to conclusion the strategies to improve the level or quality of margins
  • Build strong working relationships with other Departments as well as the other members of the senior management team
  • Participate in key decisions as a member of the executive management team
  • Executes bonds, mortgages and other contracts requiring a seal as delegated by the Board
  • Corporate responsibilities include research, statistical reporting, state filings & approvals, information systems, and development of standards and methods
  • Administration duties include actuarial recruiting, student programs, rotations, compensation, department policies

Qualifications/ Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in mathematics, actuarial science, or related field of study
  • FSA or related designation
  • Minimum of 10 years of diversified experience in valuation, pricing, asset liability management, risk management and/or other related investment work in a senior level role
  • Previous Life Insurance industry experience highly desired
  • Experienced in valuation and financial reporting, including GAAP and regulatory
