Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpreting the standard and developing proposals for the company’s chosen methodology to present to the steering committee and senior management in all of the affected offices.
  • Development of the firms’s calculation engine. This involves designing, building and testing the prototype model as well as ensuring that the calculations are correct and reporting is easily understood and accessible
  • Become an expert on the firms’s model and IFRS 17 in general
  • Involves training wider audiences on IFRS 17 and its impact on the firms and educating users in international offices
  • Large part of the role will involve developing and testing firm’s calculation engine, which will likely be in SQL

Qualifications/ Experience:

  • Minimum 2:1 degree from a Russell Group university, or equivalent, ideally in a numerical subject
  • Qualified or experienced part-qualified actuary, although someone who is no longer doing the exams will be considered
  • Prior work experience is preferably around three to six years probably in the non-life sector, whether from a direct insurer, reinsurance, broking, or consulting background
  • prior knowledge of IFRS 17 is preferable but not crucial
  • Have very strong Excel and IT skills, preferably with strong programming skills
