Asset reinsurance client. As well as the requirements below, they are keen on experience which includes - Capital markets, Section 110 investment vehicles, investment banking, collateral trusts or asset reinsurance.

Reporting to the CEO this role is responsible for leading the Risk Management Function. 

Key Contribution Areas:

 Ensure that the ERM framework – including risk strategy, appetite/tolerance statements, and policies - is appropriate to business strategy/risk profile, and in line with the Group framework.

 Maintain and adapt this framework in order to ensure it remains fit-for-purpose and compliant with regulatory requirements

 Play a key role in the developing and delivering new reinsurance business, ensuring appropriate identification and consideration of the risks involved, and development of appropriate risk mitigation and management practices

 Ensure that risks are identified and quantified as appropriate during the business development and management processes; establish suitable risk metrics and limits, for instance, for longevity risk, policyholder-behaviour risk, liquidity risk etc.

 Chair the Risk Committee, and be a member of the other key management Committees (Reinsurance & Operations, Capital Management and Investment Committees)

 Produce and present a comprehensive Risk Update to the Board Risk Committee, and actively support/manage the relationship with the Chair of the Board Risk Committee and other Directors as required

 Lead the ORSA process, including the annual and any ad-hoc ORSA reports

 Provide an effective and constructive “2nd-line” input to the CEO and management team on all major projects, initiatives, transactions and decisions

 Actively promote and champion a positive risk culture, and be a role model for how effective risk management adds value to the business

 Drive a customer culture, balancing a commercial approach with regulatory and compliance responsibilities.

Personal Capabilities Required:

 Able to contribute positively to a senior management team

 Excellent communication skills – verbal, written and listening – in English

 Credibility in front of the Central Bank of Ireland, the Board, and other stakeholders

 Confident to voice opinions and provide constructive challenge

 Independent-minded, but able to develop effective relationships with all areas of the business

 Flexible and practical, able to comfortably navigate through ambiguity and change

 Command of detail, but also able to see the “bigger picture”

 Leadership skills – ability to promote the benefits of risk management
