Key Responsibilities:

Impact on Business:

  • To contribute to the actuarial and risk integrity of the work of the business.

Customers / Stakeholders:

  • Stakeholders and other senior team members within the company who require actuarial and analytical support

Leadership & Teamwork:

  • To contribute effectively to team meetings
  • To contribute to a productive team environment

Operational Effectiveness & Control:

  • Ensures work undertaken meets best practice and recognized actuarial standards (internal FIM and external as set by professional bodies)

Role Dimensions:

  • Contribute to specific areas for insurance business e.g. experience analyses, financial reporting, local regulatory reporting, economic capital calculations, model development and governance, pricing and ad-hoc projects

Management of Risk:

  • The jobholder will also consider and allow for operational risks associated with the role and inherent in the business, taking account of changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices, management restructurings, and the impact of new technology
  • This will be achieved by ensuring all actions take account of the likelihood of operational risk occurring and by addressing any areas of concern in conjunction with line management and/or the appropriate department

Observation of Internal Controls:

  • The jobholder will also adhere to and be able to demonstrate adherence to internal controls including relevant procedures, record keeping, where appropriate, by the timely implementation of internal and external audit points, including issues raised by external regulators

Qualifications/ Experience:

  • A graduate in numerate discipline (at least second class honours) – Essential
  • A student member of the Institute / Faculty of Actuaries or ability to become one
  • A part qualified actuarial student with exam passes or exemptions
  • Knowledge of Excel, VBA, SAS and/or Prophet – Desirable
  • Is able to apply knowledge of financial services products to a working environment
