Key Responsibilities:

  • The development, implementation and maintenance of new business pricing for personal motor insurance
  • Liaise with the business and contribute to the development of new motor insurance propositions
  • Develop the appropriate MI to measure the performance of new pricing strategies and to ensure portfolio risk is managed appropriately both within the team
  • Liaise with all areas of the business, as appropriate, to embed new propositions into a business as usual function
  • Work closely with the risk modelling team to ensure consistency of pricing practice, utilising the risk models as their best view of risk assessment
  • Ensure that pricing action is appropriate and that all changes give the outcomes that are expected, to deliver the business plan

Qualifications/ Experience:

  • Experience of working in a general insurance analytical role or equivalent experience in another industry
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in mathematics, physics, engineering, economics or a related quantitative degree
  • Knowledge of working with large data sets and the use of data mining and other data science related techniques is preferable but not essential
  • Knowledge of SAS, EMBlem and/or Radar/Earnix optimisation software is preferable but not essential
  • An effective communicator at all levels
  • The ability to ”tell a story” through data analysis
  • Technically astute but also demonstrates strong commercial awareness
  • Able to work across wider pricing department and wider group to build rapport and maximise outcomes
  • Able to demonstrate strong relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills
  • An influencer across teams
  • Innovative – challenges how things are done and brings new thinking to the table
  • A strategic thinker – understands how the role affects the wider business, and adjusts proposals accordingly
  • Able to mentor more junior members of the team
