Key Responsibilities:

  • To build, develop, document, run and maintain actuarial models, whilst ensuring robust controls and processes are followed
  • To contribute to the reporting and analysis of the company's results, in particular for Solvency II and in respect of the company's Internal Model, including the maintenance / development of methodology and assumptions documentation and the operation of controls which support the completion of the company's Self-Certification Report
  • To provide actuarial support on key corporate activities, including the delivery of management actions and M&A / Bulk Purchase Annuity projects, as required by the Group Chief Actuary and the Head of Group Actuarial
  • To ensure that both ‘business as usual’ and project work is produced to a high-quality standard on a timely and consistent basis
  • To prioritise workload effectively and manage stakeholders proactively
  • To build effective relationships with Group and Life Company colleagues, and to work with actuarial counterparts to ensure consistent and appropriate actuarial practice
  • To comply with professional guidance and regulatory requirements and highlight any areas where there is a risk that the company may not meet such requirements or industry best practice
  • To provide timely actuarial results and analysis which support the effective reporting and management of the company’s solvency and capital positions
  • To support, as required, the delivery of shareholder value enhancing management actions, consistent with treating customers fairly and the company’s risk appetite
  • To support, as required, the Group’s M&A and Bulk Purchase Annuity propositions

Skills/ Qualifications: 

  • Actuarial student with relevant experience at a life insurer or consultancy and demonstrating good progression through the actuarial exams
  • Experience of actuarial cashflow modelling, including development of models for bespoke projects and exercises
  • Experience of actuarial valuations / reporting, including movements analyses
  • Some knowledge of defined benefit pension schemes would be desirable
