The Corporate Finance function is responsible for delivering transactions that provide value to our stakeholders, including those that drive the capital efficiency of the business. The Capital Manager role is expected to undertake a range of activities to use existing and innovative techniques to optimise capital and/or reduce balance sheet volatility, as well as develop and support the capital management framework.
They will work with a range of external stakeholders (e.g. Investment Banks and Consultants) and internal stakeholders (e.g. PPMG, Group Actuarial, the Chief Actuary and the Finance, Legal and Risk teams) to provide business solutions.
Purpose of the role:
To develop and implement the capital management framework
To develop and deliver capital optimisation projects
To develop new solutions and structuring options for capital optimisation transactions
To maintain strong external networks to keep apace of competitor and market developments
Proven experience of transactions; preferably those that involve capital management.
Experience of generating business ideas through the application of creativity
Experience of using subject matter expertise to interpret complex recommendations and recommend solutions for business stakeholders
Experience of managing complex internal and external relationships at a senior level
Capital Managers will typically come from finance or actuarial backgrounds. Role-holders will need to be highly proficient at complex stakeholder management, and will work closely with Finance, Legal and Risk to fully understand and anticipate the impact on the business of capital management activities.
Experience of actuarial, financial and capital management concepts
Relevant professional qualification (Actuary, Accountant or Chartered Financial Analyst) or equivalent business experience.
Strong relationship management, influencing and negotiation skills.
