Key Responsibilities:

  • To deliver systems change for projects and manage dependencies with the wider change delivery and IT processes
  • To implement new requirements into the actuarial systems, model and tools
  • To manage the model maintenance program for one or more systems including regular engagement and effective communication with user groups and senior managers and maintaining consistency with other systems
  • To act as model steward responsible for systems release cycles and processes ensuring application of control frameworks and release timeframes
  • To implement systems solutions in line with the Actuarial Department Systems Strategy
  • To implement the control framework for the development, management and release of actuarial valuation tools, including delivering appropriate documentation and compliance with relevant requirements (specifically TAS M and D)
  • To deliver training and ongoing support to users of Actuarial systems ensuring that developments are fully embedded
  • (Where relevant) To support the Systems Architect in providing an interface with IT in technical areas such as database administration, infrastructure and associated IT tools


  • Qualified Actuary
  • IT or computer science qualifications/experience beneficial
  • Understanding of people resource requirements
  • Knowledge of SQL, VB.Net and VBA would be an advantage
  • Experience in Actuarial modelling change projects and developing actuarial software
  • Experience of working as a technical lead in a systems development environment including managing developers to deliver releases and liaising with business users to determine requirements
  • Excellent technical and IT skills with expert knowledge of development lifecycle and governance
  • Moses / Monet / Prophet development experience is required
  • Experience of software development principles and Technical Actuarial Standards
  • Able to assess materiality of issues and determine appropriate course of action
