Main Responsibilities

  • Reports to the Head of Investment Management who in turn reports to the Chief Investment Officer who is responsible for the delivery of investment initiatives
  • Provides dedicated resource for execution and monitoring of trades occurring outside of external asset management mandates (i.e. financial derivative and gilt trades). Comfortable working with and developing proprietary software and modelling
  • Monitors the financial position of hedge programs. Has or develops an understanding of hedging and risk mitigation techniques.  Stays ‘close to the markets’ on a day to day basis
  • Researches and maintains market capabilities and infrastructure in relation to derivatives initiatives and operations, including relationship management with trading counterparties


  • Must have a first class or upper second-class degree (Mathematics/Actuarial Science, Physics or Engineering preferred but not mandatory), or professional equivalent
  • Higher academic qualification e.g. quantitative master’s degree is desirable but not essential
  • A number of years derivatives trade execution experience, in either a market making or asset management environment
  • Excellent commercial and technical skills in financial derivatives with the ability to develop those skills further, in particular for interest rate swaps/swaptions, inflation swaps, cross currency swaps, credit default swaps, total return swaps
  • Practical experience of financial markets investment/trading environment, especially fixed income securities and derivative
  • Excellent problem analysis and resolution skills
