I am currently recruiting for a leading Lloyd's Insurer who are seeking a Facultative Property Underwriter to join their growing team.

My client is looking for an experienced Underwriter in the Property space on the facultative side. Someone with strong excess of loss experience and someone who understands treaty structures and facultative reinsurance buying patterns is essential for this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to achieving the department's goal of expanding a profitable property excess of loss portfolio.
  • Evaluate individual risks and programs for facultative reinsurance, following departmental underwriting guidelines, using rating tools and pricing methods, and adhering to market terms and conditions.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with clients at both the underwriting and management levels.
  • Understand treaty structures and buying patterns for facultative reinsurance.
  • Offer reinsurance solutions that meet client needs without compromising technical pricing or exceeding capacity guidelines.
  • Take ownership of assigned client relationships, developing and executing marketing plans, and actively seeking new business opportunities.
  • Understanding of contracts, policy forms, pricing structures, terms and conditions, and current underwriting issues. Engage directly with clients to negotiate terms and conditions.
  • Seek or provide a second opinion on facultative risk transactions when needed.
  • Foster teamwork within client, branch, cross-branch, cross-unit, or project teams to create a positive, supportive, and disciplined environment.
  • Contribute to training and coaching initiatives, demonstrating a positive attitude and strong values.
  • Participate in branch planning to support department goals.
  • Utilise diagnostic reports to provide insights to colleagues.
  • Demonstrate organisational efficiency and time management skills.
  • Coordinate, participate in, and lead special projects for the branch.
