MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE:
This is a blended role combining Client Engagement with Exposure Management within the Actuarial Services team, seeking to improve the quality of data supplied by our clients which will be used in the annual pricing of reinsurance contracts.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Understanding client organizations’ data systems and capabilities
• Attending Client Audits with the Underwriting team, leading on the exposure management review process.
• Working with Underwriting to ensure the full capture of clients’ liabilities within their annual exposure return.
• Ensuring application of scheme rules
• Understanding and maintaining Data Collection Tool including VBA code, enhancing where appropriate and incorporating new checks
• Liaising with clients to correct and scrub data, providing full audit of data changes – and enhancing tool based on common data issues
• Revising and keeping up to date documentation of processes
• Highlighting those areas/clauses which would impact the amount of a loss (not just the TSI)
• Assisting in embedding such ‘influences’ into the models alongside actuaries
• Providing Chief Actuary and Management with timely information and analysis of exposure
• Assisting in the creation and maintenance of tools to benefit the wider customer engagement and data integrity
• Developing geo-coding visualization tools which may help clients
General Data Analysis
Provide general data analysis support on any other data used within the Actuarial Services department
SKILLS/COMPETENCIES
Essential
• Excellent understanding of exposure management principles and processes
• In-depth knowledge of UK commercial property policy wordings
• Understanding and experience of extraction of data from systems and system architecture – not just running reports but understanding the art of the possible
• Good communication – will be dealing with clients directly
• Working with SQL and VBA
• Degree level or equivalent education
Desirable
• Understanding of the drivers within Natural Catastrophe models would be advantageous
• Working with RMS/AIR to have formed a solid ‘base’ of understanding
EXPERIENCE
• ACII qualified with 10 years’ experience
