Internal Model Actuary

A high-performing firm in the retirement income market is looking to hire an accomplished Internal Model Actuary to manage 1st Line modelling activities and represent the interests of the Group's capital efficiency in communication with senior stakeholders across Actuarial, Investment and Risk functions.

Responsibilities:

• Build, adjust and validate the Internal Model used by the Group in line with Solvency II, IFRS, risk appetite and ORSA expectations, including proposing changes where necessary.
• Manage and develop junior members of the Internal Model team.
• Annual analysis and adjustment of the Internal Model risks, consequently leading work on the calibration of some of the Internal Model risk groups.
• Predict the impact on the capital model caused by Group projects. Register risks, issues and opportunities that could affect the capital position. Maintain capital efficiency by supporting Project Owners in their teams’ work.
• Provide analysis and contribute evidence to papers for the Internal Model Governance Forum, reporting on Internal Model-related projects to support the Group CRO in the management of the model.

Skills & Experience:

• Understanding of the products and services provided by the Group.
• Understanding of business processes within the retirement income market.
• Experience of Solvency II as applied to UK life insurers.
• Critical thinker and track record of innovative and material problem solving.
• Knowledge and experience of statistical and stochastic models or wider internal model methodologies.
• Programming experience (e.g. VBA, Python, R) preferred.

Salary: Up to £85,000
