The opportunity:
We have an exciting opportunity for a Head of Financial Reporting to join the Markel team in our London office. MINT Finance is responsible for the financial, regulatory and business reporting of Markel International and its subsidiaries. It is part of Markel Group's Global Finance Department.
What you'll be doing:
Lead and manage the Reporting and Capital team with three qualified direct reports
Responsible for the annual solvency II returns of MIICL and Syndicate 3000 and quarterly reporting for MIICL
Oversight of the consolidated balance sheet for group reporting and legal entity balance sheet analysis
Analysis of group quota shares and internal RI deals to ensure posted correctly and consistent across different entities
Responsible for the production of financial statements for all International legal entities and overview of external audit process ensuring reconciliations and samples are provided.
Identify key risks, ensuring appropriate and effective controls are in place, whilst aiming for global consistency, where possible
Regulatory returns for our non-insurance carriers, including RMAR and ONS returns and client money audits
Responsible for the P&L attribution tests for the annual capital model validation
Our must have's:
Qualified Accountant
Detailed knowledge and experience of UK Financial, Regulatory and Solvency II reporting
Great communication skills
Experience in managing and leading a team of Finance professionals
Experience of financial and regulatory reporting of a Global business
Continuous learner seeking out new solutions, technologies, and methodologies to drive improvement
