Catastrophe Model – R&D Lead | £100,000 - £130,000 | Permanent | City of London | Insurance
Ogden Scott are working in partnership with an international insurance group who are seeking a Catastrophe Model – Research & Development Lead.
The role requires a senior R&D candidate as you will work alongside the Global Head of Cat R&D and the Pricing and Modelling Head of Nat Cat to design, develop and enhance the organisations understanding and modelling of natural peril risks across all portfolios, designing and undertaking bespoke projects.
The role is offered on a hybrid basis with international travel opportunities.
Duties:
· Lead cat model evaluation of new vendor models / model updates
· Undertake research projects to address areas of vendor model uncertainty and limitations to help deepen the understanding of natural perils
· Lead studies on the impact of climate change on SCOR's view of risk
· Develop new models by leveraging existing collaborative solutions
· Stay on top of the latest developments in the Nat Cat model market
· Assist with the global event response analysis and reporting
Experience & Skills:
· Demonstrable experience in Cat Modelling R&D
· Hands on experience using and building Nat Cat models
· Strong mathematical, statistical, and analytical skills
· Knowledge in computer programming (R, Python, SQL)
· Keen and outgoing with drive, curiosity and passion for research with an understanding of the need to be commercially relevant both internally and externally
· Excellent communicator and an effective collaborator
