Job Details

Fairbank Partners are looking for a GI Actuary within a London-based division. The role is designed to provide support to the senior actuary and help evaluate business performance across Commercial Financial and Professional Lines Divisions, as well as markets in the UK, Ireland, Continental Europe, and MENA operations. 

The ideal candidate should have a numerate or scientific degree, high-level Maths or equivalent, and practical experience in relevant London Market Actuarial disciplines and/or classes of business. Additionally, experience working with big data manipulation and visualization software such as Power BI or SQL would be advantageous.

The Actuarial Function evaluates business performance and provides management with a clear, risk-based view for making decisions on business strategy and risk mitigation. The team covers all aspects of actuarial work including pricing, reserving, business planning, and capital, exposure management, and reinsurance purchasing. The successful candidate will work in a global team of around ninety actuaries, of which around sixty are based in the UK.

The successful candidate will be responsible for individual account pricing, new business due diligence, performance monitoring, development of underwriter rating tools, and compliance and reporting against internal and regulatory best practices. They will also be responsible for strategic portfolio profitability analysis and business planning, renewal book remediation, new business growth strategies, business planning, and capital management loss ratio parameterization processes. Other responsibilities include the bi-annual reserving process parameterization, coordinating a quarterly “Cases to Watch” evaluation process, and providing professional service and actuarial support to the business.

The role reports to the Senior Actuary and requires task management and coaching of supporting Actuarial Analyst(s). The line of business supported are Commercial and Financial Institutions Professional Indemnity (E&O), Directors & Officers (D&O) liability, Fidelity (financial fraud), and Cyber.
