Background
Software Alliance Limited (“SAL”) is a provider of cutting-edge software solutions to the life insurance industry, with a primary focus on financial modelling. SAL are in the process of redefining their future business strategy and are seeking an experienced financial modelling actuary to build a new client service offering.
Role Summary
Reporting to the Product Manager, the actuarial modelling consultant will be the face of a new consultancy service within SAL and will drive its growth. The individual will be responsible for supporting our customers in their efforts to maximise the effectiveness of the Mo.net platform. This will involve developing and testing actuarial models.

Primary Duties – Consulting
Based on client requirements, evaluate and recommend modelling strategies using the Mo.net platform
Providing support to clients for all areas of actuarial modelling, including but not limited to:
- Translation of Excel models onto the Mo.net platform
- Conversion of financial models from other platforms onto the Mo.net platform
- Creation of Mo.net models from product specifications
- Data validation
- Unit testing
- Review, improve or expand existing models
- Performance optimisation of models
- Documentation of models and associated components (e.g. data conversion and analytics solutions)
Project management ensuring budget, outcomes, timescales, quality and risks are actively monitored
Ensuring timely communication with client and internal stakeholders of any key risks, assumptions and dependencies
Provide training to model users to ensure solutions are embedded efficiently
Primary Duties – Product development
Developing standard models within Mo.net to enhance the total product offering
Work with Product Manager to determine enhancements to platform features
Primary Duties – Sales responsibilities
Run demonstrations to prospective clients of the Mo.net platform
Educate existing users on new software features
Increase awareness of the Mo.net platform amongst peer group
Knowledge
Good commercial understanding of global life insurance industry & products
Knowledge of and ability to
- apply actuarial concepts and techniques
- identify key or unexpected outputs and investigate underlying issues
Model development experience using Prophet preferred
Model development experience using Prophet, RAFM / Moses, Tyche or VIP/R3S Modeler beneficial
Expert knowledge of life and pensions modelling
Good understanding of life insurance regulations IFRS17, Solvency II etc
Knowledge of project management methodology
Expert knowledge of Excel / VBA
Any knowledge of VB.Net or C# useful
Any experience of R and / or Python beneficial
Experience of Mo.net not essential
Qualifications
