Group Underwriting Risk Manager

Our client is a leading global r(e)insurance brand who is looking to hire a Senior Underwriting Risk Manager to support Group Underwriting Analytics.

In this position, you will work from Group Level with Stakeholder interactions across the business. Due to the nature of this role, you will have opportunities to influence decision making from a strategic level to improve the overall profitability of the company.

As a key player in a team of 4 people, your primary responsibilities will include:

• Developing a close working relationship with the group capital function; reviewing and challenging its outputs as appropriate
• Making use of modelled outputs to influence underwriter decision making, helping the business to optimise its capital
• Contributing to the business planning process at a group and entity level
• Supporting the team on reinsurance strategy and structuring

Given the close alignment of this role to the company’s capital function, prior experience working in a capital modelling team or with model outputs in a risk, reinsurance or similar role is desired.  However, those from reserving or pricing who can apply skills to underwriting strategy will also be considered.

Your interpretation of these outputs to form insight, and the communication to stakeholders at all levels with varying technical knowledge, is imperative to influencing the company strategic decision making.

This role forms part of a growing trend we have seen across this year, allowing candidates to apply actuarial, exposure, or quantitative risk management experience in a strategically focused underwriting risk role.
