When I speak to part qualified or nearly qualified pensions actuaries, quite a few are interested in the BPA market. For some, they see a move to a BPA provider as a stepping stone towards moving away from pensions and into a pure life insurance role in the future.
Whilst that's perfectly valid, quite a lot of people are more motivated by a genuine interest in risk transfer work itself, rather than almost seeing it as an escape route. These people also typically very much enjoy being a consultant, and are not necessarily seeking to give up consulting in exchange for a very technical pricing role.
