Reserving Actuary

Our client, a global market leading specialist insurance group is seeking a part or very nearly/newly qualified Reserving Actuary to join their already established team. The incoming Actuary will be required to support the Head of Reserving by providing a high level of actuarial support.

Key deliverables will be to support the implementation of GAAP and S2 reserving across all underwriting platforms and develop and implement the models, completing the required validation and reporting. The successful candidate will be adept with business planning skills and will have the capability to support the preparation of realistic business plans and quarterly updates as well as validation assumptions. You will assist in developing and delivering reports to support underwriting using a variety of tools (Tableau and Power BI in particular). Additionally, you will be expected to support the ORSA process.

The role would be well suited to a qualified or very nearly qualified student Actuary with significant relevant experience, ideally within the non-life Insurance sector. Actuaries currently working in the Life or Pensions sector, who are looking to move into a General Insurance role will also be welcomed.  Experience in one or more actuarial areas (inclusive of Reserving) would be highly desirable. The selected candidate will have strong analytical and problem-solving skills and will be an excellent all-round communicator who is able to explain complex ideas clearly and confidently to actuarial and non-actuarial audiences alike. 

Excellent Excel skills and a working knowledge of R, SQL, Access, and VBA would be highly advantageous as would some experience using ResQ.
