Technical Actuarial Analyst / Data Scientist

Our client, an award-winning provider of insurance solutions in the UK, is seeking a top PhD graduate with a keen interest in data science and research to join their Technical Pricing team to develop and implement advanced actuarial models and utilise the latest data science techniques.

This role has a particularly strong research and development element, so it is essential that the selected candidate is very self-motivated, and both enjoys and excels at independent research projects and has the proven ability to see complex projects from inception through to completion. This position would be well suited to a candidate with a PhD in a numerate discipline, looking to move away from academia and make their mark within the data science field. In addition to the opportunity to conduct cutting edge research, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to further their progress to becoming a fully qualified Actuary with a generous study package.

The selected candidate will have strong analytical and problem-solving skills and will be an excellent all-round communicator who is able to explain complex ideas clearly and confidently.  A very high level of problem solving is required, along with a genuine interest and ability to engage in complex research. Prior knowledge of data science and machine learning techniques in Python or R would be highly advantageous as would experience using Emblem.

The client is offering a flexible working pattern, the selected candidate should be able to commute to the office in the south of the UK, daily during the training and settling in period however the long-term pattern would allow for two days a week being office based and the remainder remotely.
