Property & Casualty Pricing Actuary

Our client is a Global General Insurer with International presence who is seeking a nearly/newly qualified Pricing Actuary to join their Property & Casualty Actuarial Pricing team. The pricing team supports portfolio management and pricing across international operations. This particular team is highly commercially focused and the successful candidate will have daily interaction with the underwriting teams and senior stakeholders. This role presents a unique opportunity to gain in depth knowledge of multiple lines of business (including, but not limited to, Surety, Environmental, Life Science and Info Tech). This opportunity would be well suited to someone with circa three years’ experience in General Insurance.

The role will involve being able to actively contribute to the portfolio management process, which will be carried out in the form of performance analysis at product-levels through portfolio review. Portfolio review is an important element of the underwriting process within this business which feeds directly into the annual business planning process and will therefore give the successful candidate high visibility amongst senior management.

You will have responsibilities for the development of various portfolio MI capabilities and will assist with underwriting strategies, pricing projects across all lines, price monitoring and rate adequacy, development of various pricing models and the implementation of loss ratios. You will be expected to have strong technical skills, be able to take a logical approach to problem solving and be familiar with standard pricing techniques.

Expertise in Excel including some experience with VBA would be welcomed. Experience of mining and using large datasets, including basic experience with database languages such as SQL or SAS and experience in QlikView would be highly beneficial.

The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills and will be an excellent all-round communicator who is able to work with and communicate with a wide range of internal stakeholders across multiple projects simultaneously. The ability to think creatively and challenge existing processes to maximise value added and the confidence to present both to internal and external stakeholders will be essential.
