Senior Underwriting Risk & Reinsurance Analyst

Our client is a market leading specialist insurer underwriting a range of commercial and personal lines. They are seeking a Senior Underwriting Risk and Reinsurance Analyst to help grow the already well-established team.

This is an excellent opportunity for the successful candidate to gain insight and influence the way the group takes and manages Risk. There is a real opportunity to add significant value and influence the groups direction. The team works closely with the wider catastrophe modelling and capital management teams in order to gain a full understanding of underwriting risk across the group.

The role would be well suited to someone with three plus years’ experience of underwriting risk and reinsurance, however this is negotiable for the right person. A part or nearly qualified actuary with experience in Capital Modelling would be welcomed.

The client is offering a flexible working pattern, with up to three days a week being office based and the remainder remotely. They are keen for the successful candidate to have the opportunity to be able to socialise with colleagues and have a structure, whilst also being able to maintain independence and flexibility.

You will be responsible for analysing and challenging the groups UW risk and reinsurance strategies by using technical skills and details analysis to drive senior decision-making processes. By working with the capital management team to ensure UW risk is both captured and monitored and supporting the purchase of reinsurance across the group, it is a varied and exciting role which will allow the developing of improved ways to assess and quantify risk and reinsurance to take place.

An understanding and aptitude for technical coding (SQL, R, VBA) would be advantageous however no specific knowledge is essential. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills and will be an excellent all round communicator who is able to clearly and confidently explain complex ideas.
