Senior Actuary - Analytical Projects & Business Planning

Fairbank Partners are working with a global (Re)insurer whose Actuarial department has a broad and varied remit across Business Planning, Pricing & Analytics, Capital Modelling, Reserving & supporting regulatory submissions and commercial projects to optimise the companies portfolio.

This role will form part of the Actuarial Modelling Team, whose primary responsibility is the capital model, but also work closely with the line of business focused teams and central teams such as Pricing & Analytics and Reserving.

Coordination of the annual business planning process will be a core area of focus for the Modelling team and for this role in particular, internal, external and strategic targets. Outside of peak planning times the successful candidate will also gain exposure to a broad range of analytical projects supporting the companies strategic priorities.

Business planning – Coordination of the annual business planning project management across company and Syndicate platforms.

Coordination of actuarial, finance and underwriting processes to produce robust and insightful analysis of the plan vs. internal & external benchmarks to help steer the companies portfolio.

Analytical projects – Outside of business planning there is scope for the candidate to lead, manage and contribute to a variety of special projects such as reinsurance purchase, portfolio management, underwriting transformation, pricing, reserving, capital and other analytical projects.

Embed analytical tools – Able to lead higher adoption and usage rates of analytics tooling across the business and help prioritise development backlog to improve adoption and impact.

This role requires the successful candidate to have a breadth and depth of understanding of the insurance & reinsurance market, lines of business and current topical issues. Prior experience managing a business planning process in a business with Lloyd’s of London and/or company market would be useful but not essential. Extensive practical experience across multiple disciplines would be useful (such as capital, portfolio management, pricing and analytics, reserving and catastrophe modelling).
