Underwriter - Reinsurance Role

Do you have a background in mathematics/actuarial and want a role that is a little bit different? Our reinsurance client is seeking an Underwriter to join their Dublin team. Reporting to the Head of Underwriting, this role combines a mix of technical and commercial skills and is a fantastic opportunity to explore the fast-paced world of reinsurance.

About the Role

This Underwriter role will handle business opportunities and develop client relationships throughout the underwriting process. It is a varied role that will suit someone from a technical background who is eager to take on a challenge, with various tasks including those with a numerical focus.

Responsibilities for this Underwriter role include, but are not limited to: 

• General Underwriting Guideline Business
• Special Underwriting Guidelines
• Discussing possible underwriting structures
• Negotiating terms and conditions
• Marketing and customer relationship management, including attending conferences and client visits
• Maintain records to ensure they are up-to-date

Actuarial Skills Required

Suitable candidates for this role should have: 

• A degree in maths/statistics/actuarial or a business-related discipline
• Technical ability and capacity
• The potential for leadership involving mentoring and training
• Good communication skills and be comfortable speaking with clients and senior stakeholders
• Willingness to travel on occasion
