Actuary: Financial Risk & ORSA

What will you do day to day?

As a member of the Risk & Actuarial team you will support British Gas in achieving its commercial ambitions and delivering customer outcomes while remaining within Board-approved risk appetite.

The role predominantly supports the HomeCare insurance offering which mainly covers the breakdown of domestic boilers and central heating systems. However, as a member of the Risk & Actuarial team there are opportunities to influence the risk activity across the whole of British Gas.

Reporting to the Head of ORSA, Financial & Insurance Risk, you will:

Work in partnership with the business, particularly with Finance and Underwriting, to support risk-based decision-making and risk-optimised growth while ensuring prudential regulatory compliance.

Support the business with setting up, maintaining and monitoring the financial and insurance risk ‘guard-rails' ’to help deliver a strong balance sheet.

Support the planning and delivery of the ORSA, including stress and scenario testing and business plan reviews.

Support the ongoing improvement of the Partial Internal Model through regular second line validation activity.

Apply knowledge of Solvency II risk management good practice to the wider British Gas business.

A little bit about you

This role will suit someone who is looking to add value to a non-mainstream insurer that provides exposure to working in wider fields. As a qualified actuary, you will bring internal model expertise either as capital modeller or validator, be familiar with ORSA processes and have a working knowledge of PRA regulations for non-life insurers.

You are a confident and engaging communicator, able to produce high-quality written work. You can build and maintain relationships with both internal and external stakeholders up to exec level.
