Underwriting Strategy & Portfolio Management Analyst

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part-qualified to newly qualified actuary to move into an interesting space between underwriting and actuarial. 

Working as part of the group underwriting function of this large Lloyd's/London market business, you will add to portfolio optimisation and help set underwriting strategy.  You will be the link between the the insurance risk and actuarial teams, using those teams' outputs to provide insight to senior underwriters and senior management.  There will also be wider strategic projects on outwards reinsurance and competitor analysis to name a couple of areas. 

Duties will include: 

• Influence decision making with accurate MI.
• Perform technical analysis on prior years' data.
• Review business plans and assist/advise on portfolio optimisation.
• Competitor analysis
• Analyse new business opportunities.
• Trend analysis 
• Work with capital and risk teams to assess profitability and return on risk characteristics of alternative portfolios based on stochastic modelling.
• Detailed reviews of outwards reinsurance.
• Support development of Group risk appetite frameworks and monitoring of exposure against the risk appetites.
• Communicate or assist in communication of results to senior management.
