Our Capital Management team are hiring and we’re currently looking for a nearly/newly qualified Actuary to join our Capital Solutions team on a permanent contract based from our London office.

The Capital Solutions team drives activity to improve the capital position of the Group and you’ll work alongside the Head of Capital Solutions and Senior Actuary’s in the team to identify, assess and execute transactions to improve the capital position of the Group.

Within the role you’ll select the appropriate data and support the modelling of potential transactions, producing papers for internal stakeholders, including:  Chief Actuary and Director of Financial Risk to set out expected impact and justify proposed treatment and demonstrate that it is consistent with relevant regulations.

If you’re a curious individual with ambitions to learn and an ability to showcase an understanding of the external market and internal modelling solutions then we’d love to hear from you. Working to become an established technical leader within the Capital Solutions team you should also be able to display a strong all round technical skillset with a background in programming languages such as Python, R, VBA or Access being advantageous.

You Will

  • Support the Head of Capital Solutions to assess potential transactions to improve the capital position of the Group.
  • Prepare the necessary data and material for potential counterparties
  • Carry out the necessary modelling to assess the material from external parties to explore potential capital transactions
  • Assess how a transaction could be structured to provide a benefit to the Group
  • Complete impact assessment on a range of financial bases, including: Solvency II and IFRS
  • Support the Head of Capital Solutions to prioritise the most beneficial and feasible transactions and to present solutions to Director of Capital Management and Group Actuarial Executive
  • Support the Head of Capital Solutions to execute transactions
  • Produce methodology and impact assessment documentation to support the transaction, including 2nd line and auditor reviews.
  • Support the Head of Capital Solutions with post transaction implementation activities

You

  • Qualified FIA, FFA or equivalent
  • Technically strong modelling and coding background
  • Experience of Solvency II as applied to UK life insurers
  • Previous experience of statistical and stochastic models and or programming languages would be an advantage
  • Naturally curious with strong communication skills and eye for detail
