Job Details

Our Client, a leading-edge life reinsurance company, is looking to recruit a Head of Actuarial Reporting.   You will work with a wide range of traditional and complex innovative reinsurance transactions.

 

Our Client employs close to 100 reinsurance professionals, of which over half are actuaries or trainee actuaries.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

You will play a leading role in the development of the Actuarial Reporting function. You will develop a strong network with the key stakeholders throughout the business.

 

In this role you will:

 

  • Own Actuarial Reporting, leading a team of approximately ten actuaries and student actuaries;
  • You will work closely with the IFRS 17 project;
  • You will be open to new ideas and approaches, and indeed be a driver of change;
  • You will present the actuarial results to all key stakeholders creating a thorough understanding of the business while demonstrating excellent written and verbal communication skills; and 
  • You will keep up to date with market developments from the Central Bank and wider afield.

REQUIREMENTS

You will:

 

  • Be a qualified senior actuary with at least five years’ PQE;
  • Have significant senior management experience;
  • Have demonstrated capacity to network effectively with all key stakeholders; 
  • Have excellent time management and prioritisation skills; noting that
  • Some foreign travel may be required

He operated at all levels over his career, from student life actuary, to underwriting director, to head of the non-life arm of a large Irish Actuarial consultancy. He was also very active in the Irish Society of Actuaries, and among other things, had the honour of serving two terms on Council, as well as chair of the general insurance committee. 

As a result, Ger has gained a unique insight into what both employers and actuarial, data scientists and risk professionals are seeking from each other. He has very extensive and trusted contacts both in companies and in the actuarial, data analytics and risk communities.
