The Actuarial Team are currently recruiting for a Newly Qualified Actuary to join the team on a 12 month secondment. You will be involved in the production and input of actuarial assumptions into the MF-ALFA modelling software. These assumptions will cover both BAU and development/project work.

What will you be doing

  • Actuarial assumptions include those related to IM/SF SCR, IFRS/EEV, Analysis of Change, Asset Liability Modelling (ALM) and With Profit Management (WPM). They will cover all of demographic, economic, with-profit management and IM/SF stress assumptions.
  • Undertake technical analysis using actuarial and analytical techniques with the aim of improving assumption processes/methodologies
  • Proactively identify, challenge and make improvements/efficiencies to existing processes which have a high level of risk or control failure

What we’re looking for

  • You will ideally be a qualified actuary with excellent understanding of actuarial concepts and techniques
  • We will also consider Actuarial Trainee’s who are a maximum of 5 exams away from qualification
  • In particular you will display a high level understanding of valuation techniques (prospective and retrospective), calculation of FPRLs, Analysis of Change and calculation of SCR
  • Knowledge of LSMC techniques and calculation of IM SCR is also desirable

Skills that will help you in the role

  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
  • Able to take initiative, strong problem solving and numerical skills
  • Highly proficient in use of Excel (VBA desirable). Good understanding of MG-ALFA and/or actuarial modelling software. Excellent general IT skills
