Head of Reserving

Brilliant actuarial vacancy for a Senior Qualified Actuary to take on a Head of Reserving role for our multinational non-life client. The main function of this role would be to lead the Reserving and Reporting teams across multiple European countries. The role would require some travel and the company is flexible on location, meaning that the successful candidate can base themselves in Europe depending on preference. This is a senior role and considered an extended part of the senior management team. 

The main duties of the role will include but not be limited to: 

• Managing a team of reserving actuaries across the region 
• Developing and delivering business plans and resources 
• Be the driving force for regular reviews on reserves, the reporting to various committees and advise where appropriate 
• Calculating Solvency II technical provisions across the region. 
• Develop and maintain processes and policies to support the delivery of work across the team, including exercising strategic thought when it comes to existing and evolving Reserving and Reporting requirements. 
• Present to Audit Board Committee on all matters of Reserving and Solvency II 
• Manage and support employees, using objective setting and performance evaluation processes 
• Keep up to date with developments in Actuarial Reserving throughout Western Europe 

This role is suitable for a Qualified Actuary with significant post-qualification experience in general insurance. Experience in reserve modelling and structuring is essential to the role, as is an excellent understanding of Solvency II. Our client is looking for an individual with strong people management skills and the ability to influence and guide a team.  Individuals with language skills in Spanish and English would be preferred.
