Job Details

To support the Head of Contract Wording Underwriting in the drafting and advising of wordings for all classes of business. To assist in the negotiation, drafting, preparation and production of insurance contract wordings and other associated documentation for the agreed classes of business.

Development and management of wordings strategy

- To develop the wordings strategy in conjunction with the Head of Contract Wording Underwriting and underwriting teams through workshops.
- To design and implement a process for using technology, such as Adsensa, and outsourced resources to performed a checking service for wordings.
- To design and maintain management information in support of the wordings strategy.
- To maintain the intranet pages in respect of the Group Wordings strategy.
- To coach, mentor and provide regular training sessions for junior team members and junior members of the underwriting teams as required.

Wording Production

- To assess internal clients needs and offer solutions to wordings, policies, binding authorities and documents.
- To provide advocacy support in handling broker negotiations with the Underwriters.
- Checking, proof reading, approving policy wordings and binding authorities including negotiating with brokers as required.
- Liaise with underwriters where appropriate to check appropriate issuance of policy documentation.

Service Management

Support Head of Contract Wording Underwriting to:                       

- Establish and maintain working relationships with the business partners including, but not limited to, the business Ops and Claims.
- Measure and report progress against all strategic, tactical and operational objectives.

Organisation and management:

- Manage own workload and workload of junior team members to ensure daily, weekly and monthly targets are achieved.
-  Assist line manager with overall business planning and workflow planning especially to ensure times of peak workloads are covered adequately

 

- In line with position with escalation of any significant issues outside of remit or authority level.
- Identify applications of functional knowledge and existing methodologies to complex              problems

 Experience:

Demonstrable experience and skills in the following areas:-

- General administration experience.
- Experience working within financial services.

- Experience of working within the London market and or open market preferred.

- Comprehension of the Lloyd`s framework, subscription market, Xchanging, Wordings repository etc.

Functional/ Technical Competency:

●   To be a wordings expert and provide expert resource both within the wordings team and to the wider business

●   Lead projects relevant to wordings and to serve as a best practice/quality resource across the business

- Expert knowledge of all Lloyd`s web based tools such as the QA tool, Crystal, Wording Repository.
- Expert knowledge of Market Reform Contracts.
- Experience of insurance policy legislation
- Expert knowledge of working within a wording / document production environment including advanced word processing and typing skills.
- Experience of direct contact with external parties (such as Brokers).
- Good working knowledge of underwriting systems and underwriting processes.
- Expert knowledge of delegated underwriting contracts.
- Good working knowledge of Eclipse Underwriting system preferred.
- Good working knowledge of workflow systems.

Planning, Organising & Communication:

- Self starter, who can manage themselves and others effectively, communicates tasks and objectives clearly and ensure time is fully utilised.
- Communicates clearly to relevant underwriting team and line manager.
- Ensures urgent and important tasks are completed first.
- Can manage own tasks effectively: Uses simple tools and systems to structure personal activities (e.g. to do lists, follow up procedures).
- Quickly and accurately reports on the status of work.
- Meets deadlines by managing time.

Ability and confidence to change/ direct wording appetite as and when required.
