Data Analyst / Developer                              

Glasgow

A company providing independent pensions, investments, benefits and risk consulting services, as well as data and technology solutions is looking for an experienced SQL focused Analyst / Developer who is ready to play a pivotal role in the business.

You will be involved in the development of new functionality, reporting solutions, troubleshooting issues and improving performance.

You will also develop reporting solutions using technologies including MS SQL Server, T-SQL and Reporting Services (SSRS), as well as feeding back on potential improvements to new and existing reporting and process solutions or system configuration.

There will also be a need to develop new and maintain existing SSIS packages and contribute to the development of automation tools, reports or processes to help improve the quality of data we produce whilst enhancing data analysis toolkits.

Skills and Experience Required:

- Proven commercial experience working with MS services (SSRS & SSIS, Database Replication etc)
- Strong T-SQL skills including scripting, creating and modifying data
- Commercial relational database experience such as Oracle, MySQL or SQL server, and being familiar with migration, replication, data cleansing, manipulation and analysis of large datasets.

Non-essential but desirable:

- An understanding of object orientated design and its principles, how to read object orientated code.
- Experience with scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell etc
- Knowledge or an interest in SQL Server operational database concepts and tasks (e.g. process management, backup and recovery, transaction logging, performance tuning etc).
- Experience of Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), specifically around Microsoft Word.
- Previous experience or knowledge of Visual Studio .Net
- Previous domain knowledge of the Pension industry would be beneficial but most important is a passion to learn
