Leading general insurance provider requires an actuarial analyst who is looking to step up into a team leader position within the reserving function.
This role is to work in the establishment of new processes and development of new tools to support a common approach to reserving across all product divisions and distribution channels as well as further enhancing already existing tools. Beyond reserving, the incumbent will be looked to as the Actuarial lead on all systems such as business planning and portfolio monitoring.
Your main responsibilities' will be:
+ Work with actuaries in central reserving function and client teams to understand the range of processes undertaken. Identify common requirements and capture exceptions to those.
+ Work with a variety of parties to establish the best way forward compromising between simplicity, comprehensiveness and delivery.
+ Areas of involvement are to include: data handling, reserving projections, reporting, business planning and portfolio monitoring.
+ Establish new approaches going forward and build prototypes in Excel and Access.
+ Work with programmers (within the team and in IT) with expertise in VBA and SQL Server to specify, build and deliver long term solutions.
+ Maintain and enhance the suite of tools built, including documentation.
+ Support central actuarial reserving team in delivery of the quarterly result. Give back up and troubleshoot the live reserving process as required.

Essential Requirements
+ Actuarial background, preferably in General Insurance reserving
+ Strong understanding of applications commonly used in development of Actuarial systems such as: Excel, Access, VBA, SQL, ResQ
