Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the R&D Teams in Asia, Europe, Australia and North America through working on specific projects. Help develop best estimate and stressed assumptions, especially regarding trends in mortality/longevity, critical illness and disability bases through the analysis of internal and external data and incorporating insights based on a thorough understanding of the markets that they operate in
  • Present results and analysis to key stakeholders and assumption users both verbally and via written reports. Ensure areas of judgement are clearly explained and documented
  • Support other ad-hoc actuarial projects around the Division. Includes non-business-as-usual workstreams across all lines of business, working with other teams such as Pricing, Underwriting & Marketing
  • Ensure the company maintains a cutting-edge level of technical, research and industry knowledge in respect of mortality, morbidity and longevity risk through awareness of research conducted in academia and industry working groups

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Part qualified Fellow of the Institute or Faculty of Actuaries or Society of Actuaries another similar organisation
  • Understanding of actuarial principles and processes, such as the control cycle
  • Awareness of the general business environment and topics in the field of life insurance, increasing longevity and data analysis
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis software, such as R, MatLab, Tableau
  • Programming experience in, for example, C++ or Excel VBA is strongly desirable
  • Familiarity with common business IT software including, but not limited to, Excel and SQL
  • Awareness of stochastic mortality models, such as the Lee-Carter and APC models, and common statistical techniques, such as Generalised Linear Models, Survival Models, time series
