Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor portfolios are running smoothly as per systematic models while remaining within the constraints of various internal, external (regulatory) and contractual limits. Requiring an in-depth knowledge of each portfolio’s construction and evolution over time 
  • Create and deploy a suitable suite of tools to monitor and evaluate the portfolios, portfolio construction (selections) and the subsequent trades undertaken
  • Proactively identify threats and vulnerabilities of the threats, prioritise risks and their controls by weighing their benefits and costs (short & long term) – cost-benefit analysis for risk measures
  • On identification of the need of corrective action, communicate the issue with the various team heads, escalate the issue as required and ensure rectification action is undertaken
  • Strengthen the main line of defence in portfolio control, identify gaps and analyse past incidents, present findings and aim to strengthen the control environment where required
  • Weekly presentations to key personnel on portfolio updates, development and evolution alongside and risk related matters
  • Create and provide key control and investment risk related data to the firms’ decision makers to help in the discretionary portfolio management decision making process
  • Simulate investment risk and returns. Monitor the effects of discretionary decisions on portfolios’ risk and returns

Skills/Qualifications:

  • 1st class degree (or equivalent) in a quantitative subject from a Russell Group University (or EU equivalent)
  • A-level Mathematics – A grade or above (or equivalent)
  • Strong understanding of financial markets
  • Strong analytical, numerical and problem-solving skills; with at least a basic grasp of statistics
  • Strong writing skills, excellent communication skills, works well in a team as well as independently
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Intermediate/advanced MS Excel, VBA, knowledge of Matlab or R would be advantageous
